Rowan Gives Back

The Rowan PTA is pleased to initiate a new program.  Rowan Gives  Back is designed to show our students the importance of giving back to the community.  Each grade will have a specific event they are charged with.  For example, in November,  three of our 4th grade classrooms will be taking a field trip to 'Worthington at Adams' retirement home.  The students are making fall harvest cards to give, will sing a song for the residents, and share stories and cookies as they learn about some of these wonderful people. The lesson will be realized when they see the joy they've brought to the faces of the of the residents.  Other ideas are to have a k9 unit or animal shelter come and give an assembly and then have the students collect items in need.  One grade will "get to know their bus driver" and present a gift of thanks to that person.  We have quite a few ideas and are eager to see how the students react.  The year will end with a Saturday or Sunday "Clean Up Rowan Playgrounds" event.  Finally, we hope to show a Power Point presentation, at our last general meeting to commemorate the entire year of "GIVING BACK".
